AI Insights

We're happy to showcase the new feature we've developed: Insights. Have data is pretty useful in life since it allows you to make better life decisions. Now being a journal and one with AI features, we decided to take that step further.
The main goal of Insights is to make sense of our Memory
feature which is a context that improves the more journal entries you give it.
Memory generates a lot of useful data:
- Personality (MBTI and OCEAN frameworks)
- Key Events (such as a breakup)
- Recurring Themes (such as "eating healthier")
- Interests (things you seem to be passionate about)
- Key People (eg. friends)
- Core Strengths (such as Gratitude or Faith)
- Growth Opportunities (current problems you're facing)
- Communication Style (analysis of your articulation)
- Decision Making (analysis of decision patterns)
Now a big aspect of journalling is understanding yourself and that's exactly what we tried achieving and it's pretty useful.
But being open with the community is pretty important so let's go a little deeper into this feature plus some of it's problems.
All screenshots use data from a testing account. It's been generated exactly how a normal user would do it but thought it's be good to mention
As great as this feature, it's absolutely not a 100% accurate representation of a person. We also have this warning within the app
UI and Available Data

Firstly, we're also finally introducing streak tracking. Now you can see your current and longest streak. It should be noted that we check for days not entries, so create 3 entries on the same day will only update the streak by 1.
Next we can see the AI section. Firstly is the context window to show you how many times the memory has been updated and the date range for it's context.
After that comes the first personality section: MBTI. It stands for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
also known as the 16 Personality test
. This used be a pretty hype thing like years ago but it's still fairly useful. We'll likely add more resources so users can delve into some of these metrics on a more scientific/psychological level.
You'll also see the confidence metric. Since all of this is AI generated and it has fairly limited data on you, the confidence metric shows how accurate the value is. You'll see this across most of the available metrics.

Next you'll notice the second personality metric: OCEAN. It's a fairly popular framework within psychology and a pretty solid way of figuring out what kind of person you are. Since this is so useful, we also show the general trend of the data.
- Openness: Refers to a person's tendency to be imaginative, intellectual, curious, and appreciative of new experiences.
- Conscientiousness: Describes a person's tendency to be organized, responsible, and goal-oriented.
- Extraversion: Indicates a person's preference for being social, outgoing, and active.
- Agreeableness: Refers to a person's tendency to be cooperative, empathetic, and trusting.
- Neuroticism: Describes a person's tendency to experience negative emotions, such as anxiety, sadness, and anger.
Next up is core strengths and growth opportunities. Core strengths are fairly simple, they just tell you what you're good at. Growth opportunities show you things that are typically red flags. Things like trust issues
and boundary setting
. Now while we show this, it should be understood that not a single human being on this planet is perfect. The point of this is literally a growth opportunity
and something that you can focus on. It's also fairly general so it'll include things like financial stability
even if there isn't much you can do mentally to fix that.
We also have recurring themes. These are things you seem to write about a lot. It can give you an idea of what's currently on your mind.

Now we can a look at some fairly complicated stuff: people and events. Firstly let's address some privacy concerns. We actually use Jadebook personally and the idea of storing things like full names, addresses, phone numbers, even by accident is something we want to deal with. That's why we generate the data in a way that doesn't allow for that and have also instructed the AI to never include personal information.
When storing names, only the first name is stored and for key events, only the type of event is stored. We might actually change the key events to include the actual event: Like rather than relationship change
it'll show breakup
but that's for the future.
We do actually store a couple more things like tags for these items. For example, Friend A might have a tag which is the name of Friend B to show that they're related at some level. The problem was really on how to show that information. We'll figure that part out eventually.
Some Problems
You might have noticed that we didn't talk about decision making
and communication style
. The reason is that we've noticed the AI skipping these sections and simply not generating any data for them. Now it's really is random, you might see a value or you might not.
Unfortunately, we're limited by the AI models. Generating JSON objects that follow a strict format is something that even the best AI models like Gemini 2.5 seem to struggle with.
Another slight thing we've noticed is that the AI will randomly remove or update something for no reason. Now this is extremely rare and has only occurred like 3 times during testing but it can happen. This is again not exactly in our control.
We have updated the prompt for the AI to be a lot better, and it seems to have had a huge uplift in the reliability of successfully generating a memory.
Thank You
I feel really grateful while writing this little blog article. I'd like to say thank you for reading this far and taking an interest in Jadebook.
Anyway, go write something. The insights feature is already live.
