Terms of Service

Welcome to Jadebook, an opinionated framework for personal growth. By downloading, accessing, or using Jadebook (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the Service.

1. The Service

Jadebook provides tools for journaling, goal tracking, and AI-driven insights to help users facilitate self-reflection.

• Mental Health Disclaimer: Jadebook is not a medical or mental health application. It is not a professional alternative to therapy or clinical diagnosis.
• AI Integration: The Service utilizes AI models via third-party providers Groq and OpenRouter to generate insights. You acknowledge that AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, biased, or non-factual.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use Jadebook. We do not knowingly collect information from or market our services to minors.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

Jadebook offers various subscription tiers, including Free and Pro options.

• Plan Limits: Character limits per entry, file upload capabilities, and AI token allocations are determined by your specific subscription tier. These limits are subject to change; please refer to the current plan details within the application or on our pricing page.
• Billing: Subscriptions are processed through Stripe and will automatically renew until cancelled.
• Cancellations: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Payments are generally non-refundable, and you will retain access to your tier features until the end of the current billing period.

4. User Content and Sharing

• Ownership: You retain full ownership of all content you create, including journal entries and goals.
• Encryption: Your content is encrypted at rest by default. If you choose to opt out of encryption (e.g., to enable advanced search features), you acknowledge that your content may be stored in a partially unencrypted state.
• Public Sharing: You may choose to make specific content public, such as sharing a journal entry via a link or setting a public Avatar. Once shared, this information is no longer private, and Jadebook is not responsible for how that content is accessed or used by third parties.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

• Account Deletion: You may delete your account at any time.
• Deletion Process: Deletion begins with a "soft delete" period (approximately 7 days) during which data may be recoverable. After this period, all content, authentication details, and uploaded assets are permanently wiped from our active servers.
• Backups: Residual data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days post-deletion before being overwritten.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

• "As Is" Basis: Jadebook is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or entirely secure.
• Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jadebook’s total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

7. Changes to Terms

As Jadebook is currently in open beta, we may update these Terms periodically. Significant changes will be announced 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitute acceptance of the new Terms.
